X-wing Bench
A three-seater made from two identical bent ply pressings, one flipped to become the shelf. From the front, the legs read as a clean X.
The thinking
from the planningOne mould makes both halves. The shelf pressing slides through the seat pressing at an angled halving joint, and two ribs lock them together into one stiff box.
- Two identical pressingsOne mould, one shape. Flip one and it becomes the shelf.
- No plug at the crossingThe slot walls are cut at the crossing angle, so the legs sit flat on each other with no gaps.
- Arm height still open175, 190 or 205 mm above the seat pad. A full-size mock-up decides.
